તમિલનાડુના વિરુધુનગર જિલ્લામાં આવેલી એક ફટાકડા બનાવવાની યુનિટમાં જોરદાર વિસ્ફોટ થતા મોટી દુર્ઘટના સર્જાઈ છે. પ્રાથમિક માહિતી પ્રમાણે આ અકસ્માતમાં અત્યાર સુધીમાં 19 લોકોના કંપારીભર્યા મોત થયા છે, જ્યારે અન્ય ઘણા લોકો કાટમાળ નીચે દટાયા હોવાની આશંકા સેવાઈ રહી છે. અગાઉ 9 લોકોના મોતની આશંકા હતી, પરંતુ કાટમાળ હટાવતી વખતે મૃતકોની સંખ્યા વધીને 19 થઈ ગઈ છે. બીજી બાજુ ઓછામાં ઓછા 6 લોકો ઈજાગ્રસ્ત હોવાનું માલૂમ પડ્યું છે, જેમને સારવાર માટે નજીકની હોસ્પિટલમાં દાખલ કરવામાં આવ્યા છે.
