Nazareth Housing Association have raised their weekly renting prices a considerable amount, as they have said that this increase is as a result of ‘major replacement works’ for the residences. One village resident described how he received a letter which detailed how his rent would be going up to €145 a week from the 1st of September. He is currently paying €41.75 a week.

Kingsbridge private hospital may suffer from potential job losses as a result of the group ‘implementing a new service model’. The company released a statement to the Sligo weekender, as it said, “Following a strategic review, Kingsbridge Healthcare Group will be implementing a new service model and investing in the future of Kingsbridge Private Hospital in Sligo. As part of this transition to a new care model, a number of roles may be impacted.”

The fire services and gardaí attended a fire on Barrack Street in Sligo town yesterday, Wednesday between 10am - 11am. It’s understood that the fire started at the site of a derelict building. The road was closed for a short period to allow emergency services to quench the blaze.

HIQA has released an inspection report of Milligan court IPAS centre located in Sligo town which was carried out over two different dates in February of this year. At the time of the inspection, there were 181 residents living in the centre which included 90 children. The centre comprises 46 own door family apartments and townhouses.The report details how there were 21 compliant measures examined, alongside 3 substantially compliant and 3 partially compliant.
