An old well discovered during excavation works at Gorey’s Market House is to be converted into a water feature when the building is redeveloped. Since appointing a design team last April, Wexford County Council (WCC) has been carrying out a number of surveys at the site and, in addition to the well, has also unearthed cobbled pathways which will be incorporated into the new design.

The bollards which were installed as part of the works to turn John Street in Wexford town into a one-way system are to be removed by the end of March. A continual source of frustration for motorists, the bollards were originally erected to prevent drivers turning down one-way systems or parking at the side of the street.

The chairman of the New Ross Municipal District (NRMD) has called upon gardaí to provide updates to the council about “domestic abuse” issues in a new housing estate. Speaking at the January meeting of the NRMD, Councillor John Dwyer said it was vital the council’s housing department was kept abreast of any problems in this estate.
